Acting Toward Equity: Collaborative Design of Pre-service Teacher Practice in the Field

Teacher preparation programs that partner with local schools can actively contribute to school equity initiatives that extend teacher capacity and enhance student learning. In this session we discuss principles that guide approaches to action toward equity in the context of school/university collaboration. This interactive session will be framed through exploration of a case study that offers three school-centric perspectives (school leadership, teacher, and student) and the intentional inclusion of university partners in designing a literacy program for struggling middle and high school readers.
