Understanding the Basics of Measuring Student Achievement

State educational agencies (SEAs), local educational agencies (LEAs), and schools can use many approaches to measure student achievement and educator effectiveness. Seven of the primary approaches include attainment, gain, student percentile growth, standard value-added, customized value-added, student learning objectives (SLOs), and teacher portfolios.
