Securing Matching Funds: Results of our First Crowdsourcing Challenge

The U.S. Department of Education requires Effective Educator Development (EED) grantees to match a percentage of federal funds with in-kind contributions or cash funds. In July 2020, the EED TA Center asked grantees to share their successes, challenges and creative solutions related to securing matching funds. This document summarizes responses and profiles the approaches of two SEED grantees: Illinois State University, which calculates an in-kind contribution of principals' and superintendent' time, and WestEd, which has secured funding from foundations.
