Providing Advanced Professional Development through Micro-credentials as Part of Induction Support
At this 2021 EED Summit session, presenters from University of St. Thomas shared about how to provide advanced professional development to new educators as part of induction support. We utilize micro-credentials, awarded by digital badges, to provide professional development on topics with which new educators are grappling. For example:
- Addressing Behavior from a Cultural and Trauma Informed Perspective
- Focusing on Social and Emotional Mental Health of Students
- Becoming Trauma-Informed
- Engaging in Personal Self Care
We will discuss how we utilized universal design for learning principles and a culturally and linguistically sustaining lens to create professional development based on new teachers’ needs.
