Leading Ed Partnerships Coach Attributes

Illinois State University (ISU) received a Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant from the U.S. Department of Education in 2017 to support principals’ instructional leadership through interventions focused on school improvement, time utilization, and distributed leadership. ISU’s Leading Ed Partnerships project is focusing on coaching as a primary strategy to develop principals’ instructional leadership capacity and positively influence student learning. To ensure that hiring aligns with the grantee’s coaching model, ISU provides a clear structure to guide local sites through the hiring process, including a list of the key attributes of coaches.
