Equity and Instruction: The PLC Model in Diverse Communities

Teachers are experts in their classrooms. To build equitable learning spaces, it’s critical to incorporate a model of collegiality that honors their expertise. Through Project LEAD – centered in a largely Hispanic district in Florida – classroom teachers collaborate with scholars, master teachers and educational specialists, learning rich content and innovative strategies that help teachers connect to their unique population in ways that students find meaningful to their own heritage and history.
