Equity Leaders Institutes provide opportunities for education practitioners to engage in two full days of intensive collegial study, discussion, and custom planning related to leadership practices for the advancement of educational equity in local settings.

The Midwest & Plains Equity Assistance Center is hosting its 2024 Equity Leaders Institute, titled “Leading for Equity During Challenging Times. This year’s Institute will bring together administrators, building and classroom-level educators, education stakeholders, service providers, and community members who are continuously working towards sustaining equitable educational environments, particularly in our current social and legislative climate. Thus, the Institute's goals are:

  • To create space for collaborative learning towards advancing educational equity via equity-oriented leadership.
  • To strengthen relationships and build networks around equity-oriented leadership in challenging social and political contexts.
  • To advance the capacity of staff to develop district and building level leaders’ ability to center, lead, and facilitate equity-focused initiatives.
  • To initiate planning towards efforts for increasing leaders’ capacity to center educational equity in defining and enacting leadership.

Note: This event is only open to individuals from school boards, state municipalities, school districts, or other governmental units legally responsible for operating a public school or schools, or from a federally funded technical assistance and dissemination center.
